Business visits and guest speakers
Kronenburgh International Business School collaborates extensively with companies. For instance, we visit various companies with our students as part of the curriculum; these companies provide a brief introduction and a tour. They also give lectures during class days—such as a director sharing their entrepreneurial experiences—which the students greatly appreciate. This brings theory to life through real-world practice.
Internships
Internships are another excellent example of this collaboration. Business supervisors almost invariably conclude that it is a win-win situation. For the student, it is a highly valuable learning experience. The company gains access to extra hands on a temporary basis. Through the completion of internship assignments, the company is prompted to reflect, new developments are set in motion, and further progress can be made.
These internships always serve two purposes:
- gaining hands-on practical experience;
- completing academic and internship assignments.
Hands-on experience
At Kronenburgh, we believe in treating the intern as a temporary staff member. While the candidate requires an initial onboarding period, the return on that investment is significant. For our students, actively participating in the work is far more educational than simply shadowing someone. ‘Learning by doing’ is much more effective—for both the company and the student.
Completing course assignments
Students receive assignments from Kronenburgh that must be completed during the internship. There is plenty of scope to tailor these assignments to the company’s needs, ensuring the business derives real value from them as well.
Internships MBO students
Kronenburgh accommodates both full-time and part-time students. Full-time students undertake their internships between April and the summer break, whereas part-time students may complete theirs at any point during the academic year. If a part-time student holds a relevant position, that work can count towards the internship requirement.
For MBO-4 level internships, the company must be an accredited training company; this accreditation is issued by s-bb.nl. Accreditation is granted for specific fields of study and specific locations. Students must be assigned to a staff member working in the relevant professional field.
Internship assignments vary by field of study, such as Sales, International Business, Entrepreneurship, Legal, Office Management, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Assistant Real Estate Agent, or Team/Project Leader.
Internship BTEC 3 / foundation / pré university
BTEC is an international educational program conducted in English; some students speak little or no Dutch. The program is offered on a full-time basis only, and its level is comparable to MBO4+. The internship takes place from April until the summer holidays.
S-BB accreditation is not required for BTEC 3 student internships. Students select internship assignments based on themes such as management, sales, marketing, finance, or human resources. In addition, they are happy to assist with day-to-day operations within the department.
Internship BTEC 4-5 / HND / Bachelor
Our International Business Management bachelor’s program includes both full-time and part-time students. Full-time students complete their internship between April and the summer break, whereas part-time students may undertake their internship at any point during the program. If a student already holds a relevant position, their working hours can count towards the internship requirement.
The student actively contributes to the department’s operations while also working on a specific project or research assignment. The topic for this assignment is determined internationally on an annual basis—examples include “Talent Management” or “Transformation in the Workspace”—and it is important that the work performed is of value to the company. As with any internship, it is essential to appoint a supervisor to provide the student with day-to-day guidance.
Business Assignments
Companies also have the option of defining an additional assignment for the student during the internship. This is particularly suitable for part-time MBO and HBO students, as they work more hours during their internships and their placement periods are spread over a longer timeframe.
Assigning an additional task is also possible for full-time BTEC and HBO students, as the internship assignments within these international educational programs offer greater flexibility in this regard.
